“You wanna hear a story about why me & this b**** here fell out? It’s kind of long but full of suspense.”

Zola meets Stefani at a restaurant where Zola waitresses, and the two immediately click over pole dancing. Only a day after they exchange numbers, Stefani invites Zola on a cross-country road trip, where the goal is to make as much money as possible dancing in Florida strip clubs. Zola agrees, and suddenly she is trapped in the craziest, most unexpected trip of her life.

“Zola captures the stranger-than-fiction appeal of the viral Twitter thread that inspired it — and announces director/co-writer Janicza Bravo as a filmmaker to watch.” – Rotten Tomatoes.

“Despite its unconventional source material, it turns out to be surprisingly well-crafted, elevated by breathtaking central performances and the stylish, slyly knowing sensibility of director Janicza Bravo.” – Washington Post.

“Ultimately, Zola is the perfect summer film; it’s a freewheeling joyride through the seamy side of stripping that balances the thrill of voyeurism with the dangerous reality.” – Chicago Reader.

“The film is a ride — both in the literal and metaphorical sense. I never wanted to get off.” – Baltimore Magazine.

“Only Bravo’s aesthetic approach to recreating this legendary road trip gone dangerously awry, blended with Harris’ and King’s compatible senses of humor, could result in art and entertainment this spectacular.” – Salon.com
