‘WONDER’ MOVIE NIGHT– Lower North Shore Domestic Violence Network Fundraiser as part of 16 Days of Activism gainst Gender Violence

Based on the R.J. Palacio’s award-winning novel, WONDER tells the incredibly inspiring and heartwarming story of August (“Auggie”) Pullman, a 10-year-old boy with genetic facial differences. After being homeschooled, he enters fifth grade at a mainstream school for the first time. Staring Oscar winner, Julia Roberts and the charming Owen Wilson as the protective parents, and Jacob Tremblay as the boy who is shunned for his looks, be prepared for a heartbreaking-turned-heartwarming emotional journey. His parents and the director of his new school try to ease his transition, but Auggie just wants to convince his new classmates that he is an average boy. With depictions of a range of reactions to his unusual appearance, bullying and a variety of emotional moments, we see the human spirit inspired and uplifted overcoming hardships and tribulations. Directed by Stephen Chbosky who co-wrote the screennplay with Steve Conrad, Auggie’s journey ultimately teaches his family, classmates, and community about compassion, acceptance, and inner beauty.
