All work and no play… Well, you know how the rest goes. One of the most influential horror films ever made, and one of the first screen adaptations of the work of Stephen King, take a drive back to the Overlook Hotel. Writer Jack Torrance (Jack Nicholson at his most disturbed) becomes the winter caretaker of the hotel in hopes it will help cure his writer’s block, but Jack has bigger problems: his son Danny is plagued by psychic premonitions, the hotel is haunted, and did we mention that Jack is crazy? An innovative film in subject, style, and as one of the first films to utilise the Steadicam, this is Kubrick at the height of his powers.
