SYDNEY FILM FESTIVAL – THE WORST PERSON IN THE WORLD

Rating: R18+
Length: 127 mins
Cast: Renate Reinsve, Anders Danielsen Lie, Herbert Nordrum

Renate Reinsve won Best Actress in Cannes for her tremendous performance as a young woman indecisive in love and life in Joachim Trier’s Nordic romcom.

Julie (Reinsve) is turning 30 and is facing an existential crisis. Constantly changing her mind about what she wants to do with her life, Julie has wasted her talents. Now her successful older boyfriend Aksel (Anders Danielsen Lie, also in Bergman Island, SFF 2021) wants to settle down, and perhaps even have a child. When she crashes a wedding, she meets the charming Eivind (Herbert Nordrum). Whilst careful not to cheat on their respective partners, the initial spark lingers. Trier’s story of the impact of life decisions, with visually audacious sequences and great performances, is a funny, romantic and unforgettable film.
