“My Leonard Cohen is an absolute gem of a show – and true music lovers should not miss it.”

“It was captivating on a night filled with similar goosebump moments. Everything was performed with such respect and admiration for Cohen.
It was a true ‘tribute’ show.” On Magazine, UK

World class producer, actor and performer of ‘Lennon Through a Glass Onion’ and ‘Belly of a Drunken Piano’, Stewart D’Arrietta, comes to The Cremorne Orpheum with his highly-acclaimed interpretation of the late Leonard Cohen’s powerful work, ‘My Leonard Cohen’.

After sold out seasons in the UK , Sydney Opera House, Melbourne Arts Centre and Adelaide Fringe Festival [ prior to the Virus outbreak], D’Arrietta and his band will celebrate the legendary Cohen with imaginative arrangements of his most iconic music and poetry, punctuated by stories of his life and motivations behind the songs, laced with a sprinkling of D’Arrietta’s laconic humour.

‘Few bodies of musical work rouse, seduce and are of such great solace as that of the great singer songwriter Leonard Cohen. Soulful lyrics are laced with raw emotion and sheer seductiveness. D’Arrietta’s arrangements add an uplifting, upbeat feel. In D’Arrietta’s hands, these are proper rock songs’ Broadway Baby ****

From the heartrending Suzanne, to the iconic Tower of Song, the desperately seductive I’m Your Man, rousing choral beauty of Hallelujah, or his unique take on the potent anthem, First We Take Manhattan – D’Arrietta imbues the spirit of the songs with the stories of Cohen’s motivations and a sprinkling of his own laconic wit into a compelling and dramatic theatrical experience.

The soundtrack to the lives of generations, this selection of Cohen’s music transports you to timeless notions of love and loss, sex and heartache, all wrapped up in a powerful and sensual musical show.

‘It is as rare to find an interpreter of great music as viscerally legitimate and intuitively arresting as Stewart D’Arrietta’ Glen A Baker
