BY GEORGE! GERSHWIN CONCERT & RHAPSODY IN BLUE
THE JANET SEIDEL TRIO.
JANET SEIDEL. VOCALIST/PIANIST
CHUCK MORGAN. GUITAR.
DAVID SEIDEL. DOUBLE BASS.
SPECIAL GUEST DRUMMER CYRIL BEVAN.
JANET SEIDEL is pleased to present a brand new show reprising the rich treasures of the Gershwin songbook arranged for her Trio to showcase her fresh and unique sound. In addition there is a special guest for the occasion, the suave UK drummer CYRIL BEVAN on his 54th tour of Australia!
Without giving away his age, it is a fact that he first toured Australia and NZ before 1960, playing with Winifred Atwell, not to mention Don Burrows and George Golla. He was house drummer for 16 years at London’s Talk Of the Town, working with a who’s who of music at the time.
More recently he came out of retirement to go on the road with Janet’s Trio on their extensive 2016 UK tour including sold out sessions at Ronnie Scott’s and jazz festivals and clubs all over Great Britain. His consummate skill and verve at the drums was a joy for the trio on stage, and audiences were unanimously in favour.
“Janet Seidel can deliver songs with the smoothness of Dubonnet over ice’ JOHN SHAND. SYDNEY MORNING HERALD.
“Her unadorned crystal clear voice and infectious humour and patter is a winning combination.Janet offered us a uniquely personal, classic and sophisticated take and it’s hard not to compare her to Doris Day, Peggy Lee or even the more eccentric Blossom Dearie, all of whom she has performed tributes to in her career, and it’s definitely fair to say that her understanding of the classics is equal to that of those legendary greats.” GREG MARGINSON. CITY NEWS,CANBERRA FROM A NATIONAL GALLERY CONCERT.
“I had heard so much about this delightful star from Australia, but I was still not prepared for this awesome performance – this lady is amazing – such pure clean vocals!” NEW YORK CABARET HOTLINE.
“Seidel has an exquisite, gentle, and agile voice and honours each tune she sings, irrespective of whether it’s a classic standard, pop, or novelty song.” ALL ABOUT JAZZ (USA).
