PAUL BYRNES REVIEW EXCERPT FROM SYDNEY MORNING HERALD.
A classy romp harks back to the classics of the '30s.... Director Nancy Meyers rom-com begins with the heroine already in the house, the husband behind her and a sense of independence achieved.
Much of the film's considerable charm comes from the interplay between Streep and Baldwin. He's chubby and charming here, a little boy with a man's appetites, the kind of man that Meyers likes to write about. Jane is more practical and grown-up, just a tad lonely. When the phone rings while he's trying to kiss her, he says don't answer it. Her reply is perfectly pitched. "I've got three kids," she says.
Meyers writes great dialogue and she's a mistress of timing and tone. Some of her scenes build to explosive laughs but they rarely feel forced. She started writing comedy in the 1970s for television, where writers often become enslaved to one-liners. She concentrates more on character, avoiding the cheap laughs, which is why her comedy seems so classy and out of these times.
It's true that this is a comedy of affluence but so were many of the great screwball comedies of the 1930s that Meyers so admires.
What's so clever is that the dilemmas are so much a part of our times: life after divorce, dealing with adult children, "repartnering". It's certainly complicated but also witty, urbane and unexpectedly wise.

The romantic comedy about a divorced couple having an affair manages to be both light on its feet and heavy enough to deliver something of a message.

It's Complicated isn’t: It’s pretty simple. It’s simply a good time.
ReelViews James Berardinelli
Ends up being one of the end-year's best sources of pure entertainment. And for those who believe laughter is the best medicine, there's more than a bellyful or two to be found here.
Boston Globe Wesley Morris
Streep is in movie star mode, and she’s irresistible. But Baldwin achieves something not many men have been able to with Streep: You notice him.
